Announcing HAYES HUDSON'S HOUSE OF HORROR's first ever PRIZE GIVEAWAY!!!!

We have hit 50 followers (and counting), so to thank everyone, I am starting our DVD giveaways!! Our first giveaway is a great one! We have some great prizes furnished by WILD EYE RELEASING!! In this prize pack, you will get a copy of THE BLOODY APE (Super Simian Special Edition!) on DVD (click HERE to watch the trailer). This film is a throwback to the 70's Grindhouse flicks and per imdb.com "is a gore-soaked love letter to the sex and violence of the grind house movie era that pulls no punches and offers no apologies for wallowing in a skin-drenched stew of crudeness and camp!" Sounds awesome to me!! You will also get a set of THE BLOODY APE lobby cards autographed by one of the stars of the film, George Ries, and writer/director Keith J. Crocker! Finally, you will receive a snazzy WILD EYE pin to wear to show the world that you were the winner of this fabulous prize pack!! WILD EYE RELEASING has furnished me with a few copies of THE BLOODY APE along with some other titles, so stay tuned for more great giveaways from the folks at WILD EYE RELEASING and HAYES HUDSON'S HOUSE OF HORROR!!!!

  2. Boy this would make a great birthday present for me! Thanks for doing contests like this.

Let's see my favorite animal oriented genre flick would have to be "Food Of The Gods". Most people remember the giant rats in it, but many forget that you also get giant mosquitos and giant chickens in that flick. What a bargain!

  3. Great contest!

I'm a follower. I think my favourite creature would have to be the death god, Ryuk in Death Note. You would think animation like that in a live action film would look lame, but not here. At first you think Ryuk is a friend of Light but you find he is entirely selfish. The scene where he is floating alongside light, eating an apple, he realises someone is following Light so he drops his apple to make Light look crazy.

  4. Awesome news, man! Glad to hear ya got these contests kicked off!

I'm going to follow suit with Rhonny Reaper and list an animal horro film AND a creature horro film (hope this is ok).

I'd have to say that my favorite animal horror film is Showgirls with Elizabeth Berkley.

Ok, ok...I was just kidding! My favorite animal horror film is Squirm, the 1976 classic about worms that go 'rabid' and attack humans after they receive a jolt of electricity. I believe the legendary Rick Baker did the work special effects, which is one of the reasons this film is such a classic.

And my favorite creature horror film is 'Alien'. I saw that when I was like 10 and it has haunted me ever since. Those suckers are the perfect killing machine, even able to kill you AFTER they die!

I've never seen or heard of The Bloody Ape, but it sounds good!! Hope I win! I gotta see this movie!

  5. First time commenter, long time follower! I am going with an old classic myself.... The Muders in the Rue Morgue. A 1932 classic. Why, because it was a damn orangutan doing some killing. Who does not like a killer monkey!!!

  9. Tough call...I guess I'm going to have to go with THE TINGLER (1959), starring Vincent Price. While the special effects in regards to the Tingler-creature itself are less than impressive, the film itself is almost a perfect storm -- great writing, Vincent Price as always is a charming figure, and William Castle's directing and original concept are exquisite. And the gimmick! My one wish in life is to be able to see the film while sitting in a movie seater chair rigged to "tingle" at the key points in the film.

  10. Jaws. This movie made me cry as a kid when I thought the shark was going to come through the TV. I have managed to make it through the movie since without crying and rocking myself in a corner, but it has had two lasting effects:
    1) I HATE the ocean, I will not get in it for any reason.
    2) Every time I am at my in-laws lake house, I always think "You're gonna need a bigger boat" before we go out on the lake.

  12. Definately, most certainly, without a doubt - Jaws. Quite possibly my favorite horror film of any kind.
As for creatures, I loved Splinter. I don't really know how else to categorize it besides creature, but I loved it.

  14. My favorite horror moment involving an animal (or group of animals) is the tarantula gang attacking the dude in Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond". Some awesome gore effects including spider pulling an eye out of its socket, spider biting chunk out of guy's lip, spider biting chunk out of guy's tongue, etc

  17. that's a tough one to decide, there are just so many good ones. from the days of the black and white drive-in craziness to present day there are a slew of them but the first to come into my mind would have been 'an american werewolf in london' with the 1986 version of 'the fly' a close second. jeff goldblum kicks butt in whatever he does. he always comes across as so natural.

  18. My favorite animal-featured horror movie is Rogue, because of it's perfect use of the man-eating crocodile, where other movies have failed miserably. And Radha Mitchell.
