Blu-ray Review: AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM

AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM
Distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

  There are some excellent horror related TV shows on these days, but one of the best ones by far is AMERICAN HORROR STORY.  If you watched the 1st season, you will know how good this show is.  From the acting to the writing, everything about this show is amazing.   I loved the first season, so I was hoping the 2nd season would be as good.   Well, I am happy to say that the 2nd season titled, AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM, did not disappoint!   Each season of AHS will be an entirely new story.  Here is the basic plot of ASYLUM courtesy of 20th Century Fox:

Step inside a madhouse of horrors and experience the chilling new incarnation of TV’s most daringly provocative series. The sins of the past haunt the present at the notorious Briarcliff home for the criminally insane, ruled with an iron fist by Sister Jude. Forbidden desire and terrifying evil lurk around every corner...from alien abduction to demonic possession to a skin-wearing psychopath known as “Bloody Face.” Emmy® winner JESSICA LANGE leads an exceptional ensemble cast, including ZACHARY QUINTO, JAMES CROMWELL and SARAH PAULSON.

  To be honest, I am just about halfway through AHS:  ASYLUM.  I watched all of the first season and loved it!  I had the 2nd season recorded on my DVR, but when we moved we changed DVR boxes so I lost them all.  Luckily, AHS: ASYLUM is available now on DVD and Blu-ray from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, so I am able to watch all the episodes.  I am only 6 episodes in and I can already tell you that the 2nd season is much crazier and scarier than the first season.  I love that Jessica Lange is back, as she was one of my favorite actors from Season 1. There are some other returning actors as well.  What's neat about this concept that even though it is considered the "2nd Season" of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, it is a completely new storyline and has nothing to do with the first season.  So if you didn't catch the first season, you can start with season 2 as it is basically a brand new show.

  This is by far one of the best horror shows on TV.  Check this show out for sure and pick up your copy of Season 2 today!

  AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM is available now on DVD and Blu-ray and contains the following special features:

*  The Orderly
*  What Is American Horror Story:  Asylum?
*  Welcome To Briarcliff Manor
*  The Creatures
*  Deleted Scenes

Don't forget to watch AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN tonight on FX!!

  It's finally here!  The premiere of the third season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY starts tonight at 10/9 Central!!  This season is called COVEN and here is a brief description of the plot this season courtesy of the official website:

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over three hundred years have passed since the turbulent days of Salem and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe, who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona, the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

  The first season was one of my favorite shows on TV.  I missed the second season  (I had the episodes on my DVR that died, so never got to watch them).  I am really looking forward to this new season and expect good things!  Check out the first look trailer and some of the teasers in the links below!

Play the AMERICAN HORROR STORY web game!

  If you are not a fan of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, you should be.  The first season was amazing, it was honestly one of my favorite shows on TV.  I didn't get a chance to watch much of the 2nd season, called AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM, but I plan to change that when AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM - THE COMPLETE SECOND comes out on DVD on October 8th from 20th Century Fox home entertainment.
  In anticipation of the DVD/Blu-ray release, a fun web based game has been created where the player tries to escape the Asylum by choosing a certain sequence of doors!  The game is pretty fun, so check it out and then check out AMERICAN HORROR STORY:  ASYLUM on DVD and Blu-ray next month!

Are you watching AMERICAN HORROR STORY? If not, you should be.....

I gotta make this post quick....AMERICAN HORROR STORY starts in about 20 minutes!!  If you are not watching this TV show, you are really missing out.   The show is about a family of three that move into a house that has a very storied past.  Basically the house is haunted and the family is finding this out first hand.
This a remarkable show, one of my favorites on TV right now.  The acting and cinematography are great, and it looks to have a much higher production value than most TV shows these days.  The show is really weird and I described it to someone today as this generation's TWIN PEAKS, except with more of a horror element to it.
Did I mention there is some crazy demon/ghost thing that lives in the basement of the house?  I am hoping that element is explored more in future episodes.  Tonight is episode 3 and I can't wait!
It's not too late to join in the fun!  The show is on FX at 10/9 Central.
