M. Night Shyamalan's SPLIT is tearing it up at the box office!

   If you have not seen M. Night Shyamalan's newest film, SPLIT, it looks like you need to go check it out.  I have not seen it yet, but I plan on doing so this week!   The film has spent quite a few weeks at the #1 spot grossing over $112 Million Dollars as of today.  That is extremely impressive for a film with an estimated budget of only $9 Million Dollars! 

  I know a few horror fans that have not been a big fan of Shyamalan's lately based on his last few films, but it looks like this one is definitely finding a fan base!   Here is a little bit about the film from the film's official website:

  Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan returns to the captivating grip of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs with Split, an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Following last year’s breakout hit The Visit, Shyamalan reunites with producer Jason Blum (The Purge and Insidious series, The Gift) for the film.
  While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.
  Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him—as well as everyone around him—as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.
  For Split, Shyamalan and Blum reassemble their core team from The Visit, the No. 1-grossing horror film of 2015. Their fellow collaborators include producer Marc Bienstock and executive producers Ashwin Rajan and Steven Schneider.

  If you didn't get a chance to check out THE VISIT in theaters, now is the time to do so with the upcoming Blu-ray release.  THE VISIT will be released on Blu-ray and DVD January 5th, 2016.

Check out the trailer for the new Fox TV series, WAYWARD PINES

  When I first watched this trailer, I was thinking I was watching a trailer for what was going to be a crazy new horror film.   At the end of the trailer when I saw the Fox logo is when I realized this was actually a new TV series coming out.  The show is called WAYWARD PINES and it looks really good.   The show stars Matt Dillon, Juliette Lewis, and Terrence Howard and is produced by M. Night Shyamalan.  The show centers around a creepy town where once you are there, you can never leave.  You have to follow the rules and do exactly what you are told at all times.  The show is being compared movies such as THE STEPFORD WIVES, SILENT HILL, CHILDREN OF THE CORN, and even the TV show TWIN PEAKS.

  WAYWARD PINES is  a 10 episode movie event that will premiere on the FOX Channel on Thursday, May 14th, at 9/8c.   Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.  I know I will be watching this for sure!

Check out the trailer for the new film DEVIL

While browsing through Firstshowing.net, I found the trailer for the new film called DEVIL. This film is part of a trilogy of stories from director M. Night Shyamalan called, The Night Chronicles, which is a group of three films where he comes up with the idea and hands it off other filmmakers to complete. The plot for the first film in this series is simple:

A group of people trapped in a elevator realize that the devil is among them

This trailer looks great, and this is one I will definitely check out once it hits theaters! It is scheduled to be released on September 17th of this year.
