Check out the first release from Unearthed Films new TOO EXTREME FOR MAINSTREAM line!

  If you are a horror fan, then I'm sure you are well aware of the production/distribution company known as Unearthed Films.   Owned by Stephen Biro, Unearthed Films puts out some of the most disturbing and extreme horror DVDs and Blu-rays.  Well, if that wasn't good enough, they are now rolling out a new line of films called TOO EXTREME FOR MAINSTREAM which will only be available through the Unearthed Films website.   These are films that Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. would refuse to carry due to the nature of the films.   I am super excited about this new line of films, and the first release in this new line has been announced and will be available to pre-order today!

 The first release is the John Wayne Gacy serial killer film, TORMENT.  The film was directed by Adam Ford  and is a great choice for the TOO FXTREME FOR MAINSTREAM film line!  Here is the basic synopsis from the UF website:

Based on the John Wayne Gacy Murders. A young man wakes up after a one night stand and finds himself in the clutches of one of the most notorious serial killers to ever stalk the earth.

Check out the crazy Red Band teaser trailer for Bill Moseley's upcoming film, CREPITUS!

  Sub-genre's of horror films seem to come in waves....it was vampire movies for a while, then there was a zombie craze, and now the latest fad seems to be the killer clown film.   While clowns have always had a part in horror films over the years   (KILLER CLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, IT, AMUSEMENT, etc), lately there has been a steady flow of clown films, probably ushered in by the Eli Roth produced film, simply titled CLOWN.  That film had a bunch of publicity around it when it came out which got the ball rolling.

  Lately we have had AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAKSHOW, the KILLJOY films, 100 TEARS, ALL HALLOWS EVE 1 & 2, THE LAST CIRCUS, and Rob Zombie's 31 just to name a few.   More are on the horizon as well, such as Billy Pon's CIRCUS OF THE DEAD, which could possibly end up being the best of them all! 

  A new clown film has made a recent appearance, and from the looks of the trailer, this one is going to be a blast!   It's called CREPITUS, and it stars genre fave, Bill Moseley  as the title character.   Here is the basic plot from the film's imdb page:

Seventeen year old Elizabeth and her younger sister Sam are thrust into circumstances more terrifying than life with their abusive, drunken mother when they are forced to move into their deceased Grandfather's house. Frightened beyond belief, they are forced to learn horrible things about their family history. Never mind the ghosts in the house, there is something far worse that takes an interest in them ... a cannibalistic clown named Crepitus.

  Imdb.com lists the release date as October 15th of this year, but I am not sure if that is a real date or not.  Stay tuned here or keep up with the official facebook page for more details and release info!

Check out the trailer for the new Eli Roth produced film, CLOWN

 A while back I mentioned that Eli Roth was producing and staring in a new film called CLOWN.  Well, a new trailer has been released and the film looks absolutely terrifying!   If you weren't afraid of clowns before, you probably will be after watching this! 

 The film is about a cursed clown suit, that once worn, begins to actually become part of that person.   Check out the trailer and let me know what you think!

Check out the interview Rob Zombie about his new film, 31, and how you can help support the film!

  I'm sure by now everyone has heard about Rob Zombie's next horror project, a film called 31.   I guess he is going a different route with this film and is not going through a studio with the film.  In fact, he is using the site FanBacked  (similar to Kickstarter or Indiegogo) to raise money for the film!  Contributors can get some great perks for donating, including signed posters and DVDs, and even the chance to be an extra in the film!

 According to Mr. Zombie, 31 was inspired by a fact he read about how many people disappear every October 31st.   Here is the plot from the film's imdb page:

Five people are kidnapped on the days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31 where the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.

  I just saw this article posted on screencrush.com.  It is about a new horror film coming out called CLOWN.   Apparently, Eli Roth made a trailer a few years ago for a fake movie called CLOWN.   Eli Roth is now turning this into a real movie, with him producing and the film being directed by first time film director, Jon Watts.

 The movie is about a man that puts on a possessed clown costume that makes him physically transform into a child killing clown!  Pretty crazy!  This trailer looks pretty messed up!

Blu-ray Review: ZOMBIE HUNTER (2013)

  I love a good zombie movie, and I love most any film with Danny Trejo in it, so the latest zombie film from Well Go USA seemed like a perfect match!  The film is ZOMBIE HUNTER and while it wasn't quite as good as I hoped, it was still a very fun film and worth a watch. If nothing else, for the crazy gore in a couple of scenes.  If you're not familiar with the film, here is the plot from the Well Go USA website:

When a street drug turns junkies into an army of giant, mutant flesh-eaters, no hope is left - but one man remains. Hunter's got nothing left but a beat-up Camero, a trunk full of guns and booze, and a vendetta.
He crashes into a small group of survivors, led by an ax-wielding priest named Jesus (Danny Trejo). They're searching for the promised land - but does it even exist? They better pray for a miracle, because the zombies are hot on their heels. And the psychotic clown with a chainsaw? You don't even wanna know.

  Ha, ok...the crazy clown part was probably my favorite part of the movie.  He was creepy as hell and does some crazy damage with that chainsaw!  Overall I really liked this film. It is very stylish and shot is a very cool, unique way. It reminds me of a music video at times.

  This film has tons of gore, which normally would always be a good thing. The only problem is that all of the gore is CG.  There are no practical effects in this film.  There are tons of beheadings, chopped off limbs, etc....but it is all computer animation.  Some of it looks ok, but most of it looks like the cheesy CG it is.   That is one thing that really bothered me.  If it weren't for that, this would have been a much better film.  I know it is cheaper and easier than practical effects, but CG will never look as good as the real thing. 

  The only other issue I had with this release is that there are no special features.  I have really come to love the "making of" type documentaries that accompany most DVD's and Blu-rays these days.  It is weird to have a bare bones Blu-ray release like this.   Ok, so that's all my gripes with this film, other than that I enjoyed the film and recommend you check it out.

  Director K. King has no other credits on his imdb page other than ZOMBIE HUNTER, so that is pretty impressive that he started his career with this film.  I expect big things out of Mr. King in the future!

Check out the trailer for ALL HALLOWS' EVE!

 While browsing the web today, I ran across the trailer for a killer clown film called ALL HALLOWS' EVE.  The film was written and directed by Damien Leone. I had not heard anything about this film until now, and I am a big fan of creepy clowns, so I wanted to check this out.  Here is the basic plot from the film's imdb.com page:

While watching two children on Halloween night, a babysitter finds an old VHS tape in the kids' trick or treat bag. The tape features three tales of terror, all linked together by a murderous clown. As the night goes on strange things begin to occur in the house. It isn't long before the babysitter learns the horrifying truth... the maniacal clown is slowly working his way into her reality.

  The trailer looks like this could be a pretty cool film! Watch the trailer and let me know what you think!
